Charlie LaGreca Velasco
With a focus on narrative storytelling through art, Charlie LaGreca Velasco has worked professionally in the illustration/ comics industry as a cartoonist, writer, art director, designer, and even event producer for 20+ years.
It all started at DC Comics, where Charlie cut his teeth working as an artist in the renowned bullpen. His work has been featured in comics, magazines, newspapers, TV, digital media, ad campaigns, branding, corporate meetings, and live performances from such notable companies as Disney, Nickelodeon, DC Comics, Scholastic, Lego, NY Museum of Science, Top Shelf Comics, Golden Publishing, Fortune Magazine, Fuse TV, Versus TV, Allied Waste, Boehringer Ingelheim, Kompas Kommunications, Starwood Westin Hotels, and many private agencies around the world.
Most recently he is creating and writing a specialized series of environmental justice and social justice work on behalf of the United Nations, CUNY NY, and a European commission for NBS.
His work has received notable mentions in the New York Times as well as many awards and accolades among the science and social justice communities and an exhibition at the Billy Ireland Museum in 2022.
Charlie is the original co-founder of Comic Book Classroom (Now Pop Culture Classroom), an NGO dedicated to using comic books to foster literacy in socio-economically challenged schools. He is also the founder and producer of the award-winning, Dink Comic & Art Expo and Denver Comic Con(Now Fan Expo), which have both garnered praise and success within the convention and comic book industry.
