Joe Magee is an award-winning artist, illustrator, and film maker. He has been a regular contributor of images to a range of international publications such as Libération, The Washington Post, The Guardian, Time Magazine, New York Times and Newsweek – having upwards of two thousand images published. His work has shown widely at galleries and film festivals internationally – he has twice presented work at the International Symposium of Electronic Arts (Japan, Liverpool) as well as at Watershed (Bristol), the Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), the Victoria and Albert Museum (London) and The National Portrait Gallery (London). He has artworks in the permanent collections of University of the Arts London and University of Bath. His films have screened at London, Edinburgh and Tampere film festivals, and won several prizes. Joe works regularly with a range of universities including Johns Hopkins, Boston University and TUFTS. A 2022 design and illustration collaboration with Boston University’s prestigious School of Public Health won a total of 8 industry awards. Joe studied Graphic Design at London College of Communication and has completed a Master’s Degree in Communication Media at Manchester Metropolitan University. In 2009 Joe was awarded two D&AD (Design and Art Direction) Awards For Outstanding Achievement as the result of a collaboration with designer Theseus Chan’s WORK studio in Singapore. The limited edition arts publication, WERK (No.16), focussed on Magee substantive back catalogue of work. Joe has worked with Greenpeace (Germany), Institute of Environmental Sciences, Nature Magazine and many other environmentally-conscious organisations. Chris Uttley has been working for the protection and conservation of marine and freshwater habitats since his youth, working as both a practical ecologist and advising on conservation policy for aquatic ecosystems. For the last 9 years, Chris has worked at the cutting edge of nature based solutions for climate adaptation and reducing flood risk, leading the Stroud valleys natural flood management project on the ground, commissioning, designing and creating over 800 NbS interventions with landowners, farmers and communities to reduce flood risk, restore habitats and improve water quality in the catchment of the Stroud River Frome. During this period, Chris also worked with the English Environment Agency in a small team leading work to integrate NbS into their mainstream flood risk management portfolio.
